On Tuesday, May 19th, the Guthrie FFA Chapter celebrated another successful year during its annual FFA Banquet, an evening filled with recognition, leadership, and community spirit. Students, parents, teachers, and supporters gathered to honor the hard work and accomplishments of chapter members throughout the year.
The banquet featured several students taking the stage to deliver speaking parts and presentations, highlighting the dedication and confidence developed through FFA activities. Members reflected on the chapter’s accomplishments, leadership experiences, and the importance of agricultural education within the community.
Throughout the evening, numerous students were recognized with awards for their achievements in leadership, academics, livestock showing, career development events, and chapter involvement. A special recognition was given to six Guthrie FFA members who recently earned their State FFA Degrees at the State FFA Convention. Students recognized for this accomplishment were Michelle Mendoza, Zach Allen, Ridge Garrett, Ashlyn Boggess, Madison Grindle, and Lexi Beckham. Achieving the State FFA Degree is one of the highest honors a member can receive at the state level and reflects years of dedication, leadership, and involvement in agricultural education and FFA activities.
The evening also included a special and heartfelt presentation honoring Mr. Ron Powell, a veteran who lost his FFA jacket during his younger years. In recognition of his connection to the organization and his years of service, Guthrie FFA surprised Mr. Powell with a replacement FFA jacket. The emotional moment served as a reminder of the lasting impact and pride that FFA brings to its members and community.
Another major highlight of the banquet was the announcement of the newly elected officer team for the upcoming year. Eight officers were selected to lead the chapter and continue building the strong tradition of Guthrie FFA. The 2026-2027 officer team includes President Colton Stevens, Vice President Lanie Sasser, Secretary Emmitt Garrett, Reporter Riley Piersol, Treasurer Abbie Lanoy, Sentinel Kaden Berry, Historian Aiden Hardin, and Parliamentarian Laramine Sasser.
The Guthrie FFA Banquet not only celebrated achievements from the past year but also looked ahead to the future with excitement and optimism. With strong leadership, dedicated members, and continued community support, the chapter is prepared for another successful year ahead.
