Guthrie golfers score well in PGA South Central Section

The South Central Section of the PGA hosted a junior golf tournament at Lakeside Golf Course in Stillwater on Thursday. Golfers from Guthrie made a strong statement across multiple age & gender divisions.

Leading the charge, in the crowded 16-18 year old boy’s division was future Guthrie High School (GHS) sophomore Bo Robbins with a 72 and was good for a first place tie with Ethan Bailey, who graduated from Sapulpa this past May.

Jarrot Gates, a 2017 Guthrie graduate, shot a personal-best 76 good for a top five finish.

Over on the girl’s side of the 16-18 yr old bracket, future incoming GHS senior Sarah Rhinehart fired an 83 to edge Stillwater’s Kinsey Brian by a shot to win the division.

In the 14-15 yr old boy’s division, sophomore Luke Roach used an eagle on the par-4, fifth hole to propel himself to a 78 and a tie for fourth with Hagen Sanchez of Maumelle, AR.

Guthrie is enjoying a surge in talented young golfers with the GHS boys recently finishing third at the 5A state championships and the GHS girls sending Rhinehart and Drew Dodgion to the girls state championships.
