The top-ranked Guthrie BlueJays stayed perfect on the season after jumping out to a 49-0 halftime lead and now will prepare to play Carl Albert, who will be searching for their first district win.

Guthrie improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the district with a 56-0 win over Western Heights in Oklahoma City. The Jets fall to 0-5 and 0-2. The BlueJays extend their win streak to 19 straight to go along with 18 straight district wins.

The BlueJay defense held Western Heights to negative 10 yards of offense and for their second straight shut-out their opponent. The Jets finished with negative 18-yards rushing. Meanwhile, the Guthrie offense worked with a short field all night and still added up 369 yards of offense.

Senior quarterback piled up 225 yards of offense, including six-of-eight passing for 172 yards and four passing scores all in the first half.

The Guthrie running game was sparked by senior J.T. McFadden and junior Tre Smith, who both scored twice. McFadden ran in for 22 and 27 yard touchdown scores while Smith added seven and three yard scores. Combined the duo rushed 111 yards on eight carries.

Five different BlueJays found the end zone, including seniors Cody Reihs and Kasey Gates and junior Donovan Jordan. Reihs dashed in for a 38-yard score down the Guthrie sideline to help push the score 14-0. Jordan collected two more scores through the air with 16 and 73 yard catches. Meanwhile, Gates got in the end zone after Jordan set the offense up with an interception. On the first play, Dutton found Gates in the middle of the field wide-open for the 10-yard connection.

Sophomore safety Kelyn Hinds was named the F&M Bank Player of the Game.

Next up, Guthrie will entertain Carl Albert on Friday night. The Titans enter the marquee game just a 1-4 overall record and 0-2 in district 5A-2 with losses to Deer Creek and Bishop McGuinness. The Jays have won the last two meetings and hold a 7-4 record in the previous 11 match-ups.
