Guthrie man breaks into home and attacks person while sleeping

An 18-year-old sits in the Logan County jail after he apparently broke into two homes, attacked a resident and later spit on and injured a police officer.

Early Tuesday morning just after 2:30 a.m., the Guthrie Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of East Springer to a report of a burglary in progress. On arrival officers were informed the suspect, later identified as Tru Javier Treyvon Johnson, 18, had fled the scene.

Moments later a resident next door stated the suspect was inside his residence. The victim stated Johnson had forced his way inside the residence and began punching the victim as he slept in his bed.

Guthrie police officers, with the assistance of Logan County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) Deputies, located the suspect holding a hammer and pushing a door shut inside the residence. Johnson spit on a Deputy and was tazed without affect.

Johnson began to fight with officers, with one officer being injured in the scuffle. A deputy with a K9 was deployed and Johnson submitted to officer commands and was arrested.

Johnson later became combative while being treated at Mercy Logan County.

Johnson now faces several charges, including assault and battery upon police officer or other peace officer, burglary in the first degree and public intoxication.

His bond was set at $315,000 by a judge on Wednesday afternoon.

  1. I had to read this after that headline. It sounded like the guy was asleep when he broke in and attacked his neighbor. I want some of those pills if they make you sleep that sound. Alas, it was that he broke in and attacked his sleeping neighbor though.
