Guthrie man pleads guilty for 1997 rape; receives 14 year sentence

A Guthrie man has pleaded guilty for the rape of an 85-year-old woman on Christmas Day in 1997. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations made the arrest seven years after the crime was committed.

On Monday, David Jerome Stephens II, 36, was sentenced in the Logan County Courthouse for the rape of Moena House, who was beaten with a pipe and sexually assaulted inside her Guthrie home.

House died in 2008.

An OSBI agent filed a “John Doe” warrant based off a DNA sample collected from House.  The DNA profile on the “John Doe” warrant was matched to Stephens’ DNA after being collected from him when he was convicted of a drug charge in 2013. Related story: Guthrie man arrested for 1997 Christmas Day rape of elderly woman

Associate District Court Judge Luke Duel sentenced Stephens to 14 years with the Department of Corrections with the last seven years suspended with good behavior, ordered to pay fines and court costs and register as a sex offender.

  1. Only 14 years? Seriously, this man should never see the light of day again. Drugs, assault, and raping an 85yr old woman? If these facts are true, this should all cost him much more than 14 years!

  2. 14years thats a baby sentence for a tital monster. People get longer sentences for drugs and smaller crimes and thus monster is deployable thing.rape of a 85yr. Old woman on Christmas. Sick
