Guthrie man struck on I-35; vehicle leaves the scene

A Guthrie man was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 35 just after 10 p.m. on Friday.

According to radio traffic, a person notified law enforcement that a person was seen jumping out in front of traffic on the highway.

Moments later, Guthrie EMS was toned out for an auto-pedestrian accident south of mile marker 157 (north Guthrie exit).

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling southbound in the inside lane when it struck the pedestrian.

The report shows the vehicle left the scene.

Jose Rodriguez, 22, was transported to OU Medical Center and admitted in serious condition with leg, head and trunk internal injuries.

The trooper’s report indicates an odor of alcohol coming from Rodriguez.

The cause of collision was reported as pedestrian in roadway, according to the report.
