Guthrie man transported to hospital following accident with sand truck

A Guthrie man was admitted into an Oklahoma City hospital in good condition following a two vehicle accident early Friday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports Syveric King, 64, of Guthrie was driving a 2007 Chevrolet HHR westbound on Interstate 40 at Peebly Road just after midnight. Troopers say King was driving at an unsafe speed for road conditions (snow/ice) and struck a sand truck in the rear.

The driver of the sand truck was not injured.

After the collision, King departed the roadway to the left and struck the cable barrier. The accident deployed the HHR’s airbag.

He was transported by EMSA to Southwest Medical Center for trunk internal injuries.
