Guthrie Public Schools honored as a Patriotic Employer

Monday morning before a session on professional development began at Guthrie High School, Terry Moore, on behalf of the organization, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, presented Guthrie Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson and GHS Assistant Principal Dusty Throckmorton with the Patriotic Employer Award.

The district was nominated by GHS History Teacher Dusten Metz, a 15 year U. S. Army veteran who currently serves in the Oklahoma National Guard.  Metz, in his second year at GHS, began the school year on deployment.

During the presentation, he publicly thanked the GPS administration for their support with having a certified substitute and making the absence as smooth as possible for his students.

Dr. Simpson stated following the presentation, “I want to thank Mr. Metz for his service to our country.  The life lessons he brings to our classroom are invaluable and we consider it an honor to have him on our team.”
