Four of the six schools in the Guthrie school system will have a new principal come next school year.
The Guthrie Board of Education met Monday evening and approved several positions for the 2012-2013 school year.
Along with the personnel changes, Dr. Mike Simpson is set to assume the superintendents role beginning July 1.
Chris LeGrande was named the principal at Guthrie High School after serving as an assistant principal at the school. LeGrande, a former Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, replaces Chad Wilson who was named the Executive Director of Human Resources and Secondary Education at last month’s board meeting.
LeGrande just completed his third year at the high school and served as the Attendance Principal and Freshman Center Administrator. Before making the move into administration, he served as a science teacher for 15 years at the junior high in Guthrie.
Karen Watkins will move from Cotteral Elementary to Fogarty Elementary to assume the principals position. She takes over for Kathy McGee, who retired this year following 35 years in Guthrie. Watkins will begin her 10th year in Guthrie next fall.
Ben Hardin takes over for Watkins at Central Elementary. Harden, a 1983 Guthrie graduate, concluded his second year as the assistant principal at Guthrie Upper Elementary School. Before the move to GUES, Hardin was at Fogarty for three years.
Scot Graham assumes the principal position at Cotteral Elementary. Graham comes from the Edmond school district where he served as the assistant principal at John Ross Elementary School.
Tim Rawls, principal of the junior high, and Susan Davison, principal of GUES, will continue with their perspective roles at their school.
In other administration moves, Clarence Munyan was named the assistant principal at GUES while Maranda Wilson was named the assistant principal at Fogarty.
