Guthrie Schools names principal-in-waiting for Charter Oak Elementary

Following an executive session among the Board of Education (BOE) members on Monday night, Guthrie Public Schools named their principal-in-waiting for Charter Oak Elementary.

With the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson, the BOE unanimously voted to place Jeff Ball as the first principal for Charter Oak Elementary, which is set to open next school year.

“Jeff has been an asset to this district for a long time,” Simpson said. “It is rewarding to be able to ‘home grow’ your leadership.”

Ball, who is in his 22nd year with Guthrie Public Schools, is currently the Assistant Principal at Guthrie Upper Elementary School.

The Guthrie High School alum and life-long Guthrie resident is married to Melanie and has two children in the school system.

“He is a Bluejay through and through. We are fortunate to have so many talented staff members who love this district,” Simpson added.

Ball says his family loves Guthrie and he can’t imagine a better community to raise their kids.
