The Guthrie area was rattling late Sunday evening into early Monday morning. Three shallow earthquakes were registered, but many say they felt more weaker quakes while others never felt one.
The first rattler, which was the largest, struck at 10:56 p.m. and registered a 3.3 in magnitude. The epicenter was located south of E. College Ave. and west of Westminster Rd. It was 2.2 miles deep, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
USGS reports the second quake hit at 1:09 a.m. and registered a 2.8. The quake was centered near Cooksey Rd. and Douglas Blvd. The depth of the quake was 2.7 miles.
The final registered earthquake struck at 4:05 a.m. and measured a 3.0. It was just 1.5 miles deep and located near N. Pine St. and E. Camp Russell Rd.
On Guthrie News Page’s Facebook page, one resident said “felt them all night.”
USGS says quakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with earthquakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and higher.
No damages or injuries associated with the earthquake have been reported.
