The Guthrie High School soccer teams have kicked off their season, with the boys at 0-1 and the girls at 0-3.

The teams hosted their first tournament as a fundraiser for the Soccer Booster Club. The tournament raised $5,129 and will help the teams purchase equipment and supplies for the field. The varsity boys won the tournament, while the girls finished fourth. The boys collected a 1-0 win over Duncan, tied Crossings 0-0 and topped El Reno 2-1 to claim the championship. The girls lost to Duncan 4-0, tied Southmoore 0-0 and lost to Clinton 4-0.

The teams started their pre-season play on the road at Cache, dropping all three games with the boys junior varsity losing 2-1, girl’s varsity 10- and boy’s varsity 2-1. They rebounded a week later to sweep Del City with the JV winning 3-1, girl’s 2-0, and boy’s 4-1.

The boy’s team opened the season with a 2-0 record with wins over Weatherford (2-1) and Lawton (10-), but dropped their last outing with McGuinness (3-0).

The Lady Jays have dropped their contests to Weatherford (5-0), Lawton (7-1), and McGuinness (10-0).
