Some of Oklahoma’s top Class 5A runners will gather in Guthrie on Saturday for the third annual Oklahoma 5A Public School Cross Country Championships.
The event will take place at Cottonwood Flats, located at 624 W. Warner Ave., and will feature separate 5-kilometer races for girls and boys.
The girls’ race is scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by the boys’ race at 10:45 a.m.
The Lady Jays and Bluejays both enter the race ranked No. 2 in 5A.
An awards ceremony is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. inside the Guthrie High School gymnasium.
The top 20 individual finishers in both divisions will receive medals. Runners finishing in the top 10 will be recognized as Oklahoma 5A first-team selections, while those placing 11th through 20th will receive second-team honors.
The first- and second-place teams will receive plaques or trophies, with championship banners awarded to the winning girls’ and boys’ teams. The top three teams will also receive team-place medals.
A traveling championship trophy will be introduced this year and updated annually with the name of each winning team.
