Heavy rainfall brings much needed rain; park roadway taken over

Overnight and early morning rain showers brought much needed rainfall in the Guthrie area on Sunday.

The heavy rains officially recorded 2.15 inches of rain, according to the Oklahoma Mesonet. Rain gauges near the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport showed 2.90 inches.

The rainfall was to much for the banks at Mineral Wells Park. The roadway that separates the two ponds was overtaken with water (as seen in the photo).

As of Sunday morning (1 a.m.) Guthrie officially recorded 1.87 inches of rain for the month of April and 4.97 for the year.

More storms are expected in the Guthrie area on late Sunday evening.

Logan County remains in an Areal Flood Watch until 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
