High speed chase with stolen vehicle goes through Guthrie

Law enforcement performed exceptionally on Thursday night when a male driver led them on a high-speed chase with a stolen vehicle through the city limits of Guthrie.

A Logan County Sheriff’s deputy located a stolen vehicle on Noble Ave. and Blake Road and attempted to pull the 2008 maroon Honda Accord over, but the vehicle took off and the pursuit was on.

A black 21-year-old male, whose name was not released at the scene, turned southbound onto Pine St. down to Triplett Road. From there, the driver traveled westbound onto Division St.

The chase with speeds over 100 mph made its way into Guthrie on S. Division St. before making a right turn onto Oklahoma Ave. With several police units behind him, including Guthrie police officers, the driver turned south onto Broad St. before making his way to Harrison Ave. At Capital Street, the driver turned west onto Perkins St. and back onto Division St.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol took over the pursuit and made PIT maneuver, or precision immobilization technique, just before the driver reached the southbound ramp onto Interstate 35.

The driver took out a sign and was pinned inside the vehicle until removed by law enforcement.

The driver was taken to OU Medical Center with several injuries.

There were no other immediate injuries reported at the scene.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Lakeview Grocery convenience store at the intersection of Sooner Road and Seward Road.

Guthrie News Page will have more details as they become available.
