Homeowner thankful for firefighters after they save her home

A vacant home was destroyed by fire on Saturday night. A nearby home was also damaged, but the homeowner only wanted to talk about the firefighters with the Guthrie Fire Department.“I wish I could win the lottery and give those firefighters all the money,” the lady told Guthrie News Page on Saturday morning.

The east side of her home was charred from the radiant heat of the hot flames that burnt a home to the ground in the 500 block of E. Lincoln just after 10 p.m.

“Those firefighters are outstanding,” she exclaimed with a smile as if there was no damage to her property.

“They saved my home.”

As firefighters arrived to the scene, the empty house was fully-involved with flames and smoke. Firefighters quickly went defensive and began protecting the nearby home.

Fire crews needed just minutes to get the fire under control.

Firefighters were assisted by the Guthrie Police Department.

“We have such a great team, between the fire and police departments, working together to protect our citizens. We couldn’t do it without each other,” Fire Chief Eric Harlow said.

It’s uncertain what ignited the blaze.

There were no injuries reported.
