Guthrie softball belted 14 hits, including five doubles, and scored 14 times in just three innings of play on Tuesday, but that was not the impressive part.

McKale Hopfer took the circle and pitched three perfect innings in a 14-0 district win over Southeast. The senior did not allow one Lady Spartan on base, and struck out seven of the nine batters that she faced. The two Spartans that put the ball in play grounded out to Hopfer and second baseman Madison Dutton.

Guthrie improves to 4-1 on the season and have jumped out to a 2-0 district record.

The Lady Jays used a nine-run third inning to put the game away.

Bailey Shaffer, Madison Sutton, Samantha Simpson, Chelsea Watson, Eryn Richardson and Nicole Nontz each collected two hits.

Shaffer, Simpson, Watson and Richardson each had two RBI’s with Sutton leading the category with three RBI’s.

Richardson was a perfect 2-2 at the plate, including a triple. Watson joined her with a triple of her own to go with a double. Sutton drilled two doubles while Shaffer, Simpson and Watson also added doubles.

Nicole Nontz was a spark with a 2-2 performance with a RBI.

Guthrie gets back on the field on Thursday in the Perry Tournament. First up, will be Frontier at 3:30. On Friday, Guthrie is set to play Mannford and Pawnee.
