House fire under investigation for possible arson

Fire investigators will look to determine if a house fire on Saturday morning was set on purpose.

Fire departments from Guthrie, Oak Cliff, and Sooner responded to a residence on Hilltop Dr. for a structure fire. Soon after, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was requested to assist.

Crews found smoke and flames coming from a double-wide trailer home. Nearby neighbors attempted to put the flames out with a water hose while firefighters made their way to the scene.

One person inside the home, along with two dogs, was able to get out of the home safely. However, a female appeared to be heavily intoxicated and acting of out control. Deputies would later detain her.

According to witnesses, the female did not want the fire department to be called and wanted the home to burn down. Eventually, fire crews were called by nearby neighbors.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called to investigate.

Witnesses said the fire might have started in a spare bedroom in front of the home.

Fire crews were forced to break out windows and cut multiple holes in the roof to help extinguish the fire.
