How the Jays opponents did in week two

The Guthrie BlueJay football team was once again impressive inside Jelsma Stadium with a 35-6 win over Ponca City to move to 2-0 and will be moving to the No. 1 spot in the 5A rankings, but how did the other Jays opponents hold up in week two?

Overall, the nine opponents manage a 4-5 record and improved from last week’s 3-6 start.

Duncan 56, Noble 7

The Demons took their frustrations out on the Noble Bears in their home opener. The Demons scored four touchdowns in the first quarter alone. Quarterback Brandon Wilson found brother Bradley Wilson on the third play of the game to begin the onslaught.

Enid 27, Midwest City 34

The Plainsmen got the start they wanted, but did not get the ending they had in mind as the Plainsmen jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead to see the Bombers outscore them 34-10 the rest of the way.

Quarterback Alex Patterson threw for two touchdowns in the loss as the Plainsmen fall to 1-1.

Deer Creek 26, Shawnee 33

Shawnee picked up their first win while Deer Creek dropped their first game of the season.

Ada 20, McAlester 21

Perhaps, closer than expected but the Buffalo’s move to 2-0 while Ada drops to 0-2 with last week’s lost to Ardmore.

Noble 7, Duncan 56

For the second straight, Noble was only able to come up with 7 points. The Bears are allowing 47.5 points a game two weeks into the season.

Carl Albert 34, Ardmore 6

The Titans picked up their first win of the season on the road and showed more offense this week with their new starting quarterback Taylor Hawkins.

El Reno 43, Chickasha 20

Both teams were looking for their first win after dropping Week one game’s to lower class teams. The Indians piled on 43 points to move to 1-1.

Western Heights 21, Tulsa Central 30

Southeast 27, Star Spencer 14

  1. a news ok article says BTW will remain at #1 in 5A since they were beatin by a ranked 6A school. even tho im biased, i agree with this decision. if Guthrie should get beat friday by Enid, who almost beat #4’s Midwest City, they shouldnt drop rank either. however, lol knowing the team right under us *coughCAcough* it wont surprise me at all to see us drop in rank should Guthrie lose.
