The Guthrie Fire Department responded near the intersection of Prairie Grove Rd. and Pine St. for a grass fire just before 1 p.m.

Homeowners were unaware of what was happening behind their home until they saw fire crews arrive. The property owners quickly moved their items away from the direct path of the fire. Firefighters were able to stop the fire just before it approached a shed.

The fire was kept to an open field, which had several farm equipment and vehicles in the area.

An elderly property owner was burning materials not allowed to be burned when the fire got out-of-control.

There were no injuries reported and firefighters were on the scene for approximately 60 minutes.
