An intersection near the historic downtown area is receiving a facelift.
Construction work continues at 1st Street and Springer Ave. as contract workers repair what once was a raised and crumbled, filled in with gravel, brick roadway.
City Council approved the project during their May 18 meeting and awarded the bid to Rudy Construction of Oklahoma City.
The once brick intersection will be turned into a concrete colored and stamped intersection. In addition, French drains and ADA sidewalk approaches will be added.
City workers are adding a new water main under the intersection, and will reconnect to the existing line.
The cost of the project, including engineering fees and contingencies, is listed at $193,750.70.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of October.
