Japanese Language classes at the library; more events scheduled

Ever been interested in Japanese? Now is your chance to learn. Japanese Language classes are coming to the Guthrie Public Library.

The Japanese language classes each Saturday morning at 9:30 am, beginning October 6th through November 17th . The focus will be on both conversational and written Japanese. Classes are taught by Dutch Hinkle, who lived in Japan and has studied Asian culture and language for over 50 years.

Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma!

The Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma! The book discussion series is off to a great start and we had an enthusiastic group for our first discussion featuring “ On T he Road ” by Jack Ke rouac. We will be meeting at 6 pm on Monday, September 24 th to discuss Homer’s “ Odyssey ” and our next feature will be Steinbeck’s “ Travels With Charley ”, and will be discussed on October 22nd at 6pm.

Self-defense classes continue

Learn the essentials of self-defense in our four-part series at the library. The first seminar, “The 3 Goals of Self Defense,” will be Tuesday, October 9th , from 6:30 pm to 7:30pm.

Learn how to respond to an aggressive attacker. This nationally-taught technique is easy to learn, remember, and apply. Used properly, it will provide you the tools to deal with an attacker and to gain time to escape. Be empowered against any attacker!
