Starting pitcher Hayden Seiftert was given run support early and often against the Del City Eagle’s and resulting in Seifert picking up his first win of the season.
Guthrie, winners of their last three games, put up crooked numbers in each of their four at bats as seven different Jays scored.
The Jays pulled two runs across in the first with the first run coming off the bat of sophomore Luke Davis. Senior Corbin Crockett started the inning with a single, and scored on Davis’ double.
The hit that gave Guthrie their first big advantage early came from senior Jaden Chappell in the second inning. Chappell drilled a three RBI double to give Guthrie a 6-1 lead after two complete. Chappell just missed a homerun in the fourth inning with the wind blowing in and had to settle with another double.
In the third, Guthrie collected two more runs and got things started with a base hit from sophomore catcher Landry Chappell. Senior Zac Bobo followed that with a walk and freshmen Bryan Dutton brought in the run with a single. Senior Dustin Bowman reached second base on a Del City fielding error and another Eagle error on the same play allowed Bowman to second and Bobo to score.
Landry Chappell scored cousin Jaden Chappell on a single in the fourth and Dutton followed that later with a RBI double. Dutton joined Crockett and Davis in scoring two runs each.
Del City scored a run in each of the second and fifth innings.
Seifert is 1-0 in three pitching appearance’s as he and the Jays return back to Squires Saturday morning when they take on Kingfisher (11am) and Chandler (4pm). Kingfisher and Chandler will play each other with a scheduled time of 1:30.
