Guthrie’s JaRon Pryor’s name will be added to an elite list in Oklahoma high school and Guthrie football. On Monday, Pryor was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State football team.
Pryor will represent the West team on July 29 in Tulsa. The game is set for 7:30 at a site to be determined.
Pryor, who was named District 5A-2’s First-Team Athlete of the Year, was used extensively for the Jays (6-4) this past season on offense and defense.
At 6-foot, 215-pounds, Pryor had 49 tackles and five sacks. As a junior he piled up 83 tackles and three sacks.
Over the weekend, Pryor committed to play college football at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Okla. He’s expected to make it official on national signing day (Feb. 3) at 11 a.m. inside Guthrie High School.
Rowdy Reihs has been selected as an alternate linebacker for the game. Reihs, who signed to play college baseball with Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, was named to the first team District 5A-2 defensive team. In his three year career, Reihs finished with 244 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions.
Former Guthrie coach Rafe Watkins will represent Muskogee as the coach for the East team.
