Trio of Bluejays to sign on National Signing Day

The Guthrie Bluejay football program will have three players to sign their letter of intent to play college football on Feb. 3 inside Guthrie High School.

JaRon Pryor, who was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State football team, and Michael Pruitt have verbally committed to play at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) in Miami, Okla. Jalyn Morgan has committed to Division II Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Okla.

The signing event will take place at 11 a.m. inside the school’s library.

Pruitt was a staple on the right side of the Jays offensive line in his two years of service. Due to injuries on the defensive side for the Bluejays, Pruitt was forced into action on the defensive line and made a presence.

Pryor was named District 5A-2’s First Team Athlete of the Year after finishing his senior season with 49 tackles and five sacks. Related story: ‘Jays Jaron Pryor named to OCA All-State team

NEO, finished this past season with a 4-5 record, currently has more than a dozen outgoing players headed to Division I schools for the 2016 season.

Morgan was a two-way player for the Bluejays. On offense, Morgan hauled in five catches in the season opener against Duncan and finished the season with one touchdown. On defense, Morgan hauled in three interceptions and added up 30 tackles. He was to the First-Team defense in District 5A-2.

The Bulldogs, who play in the Great American Conference, finished 8-4, including winning six of their last seven games.

Senior wide receiver Chance Whitt is expected to be a preferred walk on at NEO.
