Jays look to clinch in Oklahoma’s panhandle

There are several playoff scenarios for many high school football teams on Friday night. For the Guthrie Bluejays, it’s simple. Win and make the playoffs for the 13th straight season.

The Bluejays make the long trip to Guymon and will be heavy favorites to win in Oklahoma’s panhandle.

The game can be heard online at Guthrie News Page, Guthrie Sports Page and the live video feed. Click here to view all audio and video options. The game will not be carried on the radio due to conflicts with Oklahoma State Basketball.

Guthrie has won three of their last four games, including two in a row, after starting the season 1-4.

For Guymon, they picked up their first win of the year last week against Northwest Classen, 9-6, after dropping their first eight games of the year.

The Tigers continue to struggle in Class 5A. In the past six seasons, Guymon is 8-51 with their best year coming in 2015 with a 4-6 record.

The Jays can still qualify for the playoffs with a loss, but are more concerned about controlling their own destiny. With a win, Guthrie would travel to Ardmore for a first round playoff game.

Ardmore has claimed the district title in 5A-1.
