Guthrie extended their home winning streak to 24 games with a 52-0 win over El Reno Thursday evening. The top-ranked Jays stay unbeaten as they now prepare for a 5A-2 marquee contest next week in Edmond.
The BlueJays put together 300 yards on the ground and on defense held the Indians to a total of 61 yards of offense. The win keeps Guthrie as the lone school in 5A unbeaten at 7-0. El Reno falls to 2-5 and 1-3 in the district.
Next up will be a meeting with the Deer Creek Antlers, who took down Western Heights 51-7 and is now 5-2 and 3-1 in the district. The Jays have won six of the eight games in the series, including last year’s 42-35 overtime thriller.

The Guthrie defense was again the story as they held the Indians running game to 25 yards. The shut-out is the second on the season (Guymon). They are now holding their opponents to 38 yards total on the ground.
Senior defensive tackles Trevor Blassingame and Payton Haynes proved to be tough in the trenches. With 26 rushing attempts, the defense held the Indians to negative yards on 9 plays and only allowed two plays of six yards or more.
Junior L’liott Curry hauled in two touchdown grabs while senior Kai Callins scored twice on the ground to seal the game by the middle part of the second quarter. Curry gathered a 20 and 30-yard scores and between those was a Callins 30-yard scoring run. Callins added a 22-yard score to push the lead up 28-0 with 4:23 left until halftime.
The Jays added one more score before the half with quarterback Reed Roberts throwing his third touchdown grab of the night. This time it was senior Donovan Jordan at the goal line to go into the locker room with a 35-0 advantage.
With the three touchdown passes, Roberts finished 9-of-13 passing for 145 yards.
In the second half, Idae Alexander found the end zone for the 14th time this season with a 1-yard run. Alexander finished with 12 carries for 105 yards in a week coming off his stellar performance at Carl Albert. He has now rushed over 100 yards in four games this season.
Morales added a 25-yard field goal to boost the lead 45-0 after three quarters.
