The Guthrie BlueJays had a much easier time Thursday evening with the Shawnee Wolves to stay unbeaten in district play.
Guthrie scratched four runs in the second inning and got a pitching gem from junior Bryan Dutton, who pitched all seven innings, as the Jays shut-out Shawnee 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.
Guthrie, who has now won three in a row, needed 9 innings the previous night to come away with an 11-10 victory.
The 7th ranked Jays improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the district while the 4th ranked Wolves fall to 6-3 and 4-2.
Dutton (2-0) allowed just three hits, struck out two Wolves and did not allow a walk en route to his second win on the mound.
Offensively, Guthrie got three hits each from seniors Hayden Seifert and Landry Chappell. Dutton and senior Luke Davis collected two hits each as each starter had at least one base hit.
Weather permitting, Guthrie is set for two more district games beginning with a road trip to El Reno on Monday and a return trip to Squires Field on Tuesday. Both games are set for 4:30.
