Junior High golf team takes third; Robbins finishes in top 10

The Guthrie Junior High Boy’s Golf team competed at their own tournament held at Cedar Valley International on March 30.

The top three teams and top 10 Individuals were honored with plaques and medals. There were 12 teams with approximately 60 competitors.

Oakdale won the overall team competition with a team low score of 336, Deer Creek took home second with 357 strokes and was followed by Guthrie’s “Blue” squad with a team total of 379. 

Top individual honors went to Oakdale’s Austin Dolan with an 18-hole score of 82. 

Setting the pace for the Jays was Bo Robbins who finished seventh overall with an 88.  The “Blue” team was rounded out by Jackson Hirzel’s 96, Brady Hirzel’s 97, Luke Roach’s 98 and Luke Dale’s 98. 

Competing for the Guthrie “White” and “Silver” squads were: Devin Reece-100, George Machtolf-110, Alec Harkey-115, Garret Hirzel-117, Klay Coker-123, Caden Nelson-126, Bryce Oliphant-127 & John Paul Krug-134. 

For several of the Guthrie golfers, the tournament marked their first competitive golf tournament.

Head coach Ron Gillette said he was very proud of each and every one of his team members and looked forward to helping them build off of this tournament.
