Members of the Guthrie High School Junior ROTC recently met at Honor Park in the middle of Guthrie to lend a helping hand with a “clean up, fix up, paint up” mission.

Major Mick Fredrickson, faculty instructor noted, “We had 24 Junior ROTC students giving a part of their afternoon to honor the veterans of Logan County through some beautification efforts at the Veterans Memorial at Honor Park. They mowed, raked, weeded, planted and painted so that the memorial reflects the pride and respect that these young men and women have for the veterans of our county. It is small token of giving back to the veterans what they have given to each of us and our country.”

Steve Gentling, American Legion representative added, “It is a special tribute that these ROTC young adults give to the veterans honored at this memorial. It is a special place for the veterans of our community and the ROTC efforts clearly reflect their appreciation for the men and women in uniform and the common bond which they share.”
