In 2007, the last time Guthrie won a football state championship, two players shared the Bluejays’ quarterback duties.
This season, the talents — and names — of those two players are combined in one standout sophomore, Kai Callins.
Callins started at cornerback and intercepted five passes as a freshman last season, but will play on both sides of the ball in 2011. And on offense, his performance at last week’s scrimmage was reminiscent of a former Bluejay that is now a junior running back at Oklahoma State.
