Lady Jays track comes across 6th at State

The Guthrie Lady Jays track team competed in the Class 5A State track tournament and came away with a sixth place finish.

Guthrie finished with 41 points as Booker T. Washington won the team title with a score of 77 points.

Although there were no top winners for Guthrie, the Lady Jays were competitive in many events.

Senior Rachel Roberts concluded her high school career with third and fourth place finishes in the 3200 and 1600 meters runs. The Harding University runner to be ran a 12:07.82 in the 3200 and a 5:33.15 in the 1600.

Freshmen sprinter Rosetta Galbraith finished second in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the 100 meter dash.

Senior Leslie Hughes jumped to a second place finish in the high jump and fifth in the long jump. She jumped a 5-0 even and fell just short of  Tyler Cockrell’s, of B.T. Washington, 5-2.

In the other field events,  Erika Guerrero finished third in the pole vault and Erin Perring came away with a fourth place showing in the discus.
