The town of Langston is mourning the death of their mayor.
Blayne Hinds died Sunday from natural causes at the age of 68. He had held the mayor position since being elected in 2007.
Dr. Hinds also served as the associate vice president for Langston University in Oklahoma City.
In a released statement from the Langston University School of Arts & Sciences:
“Dr. Hinds rendered valuable and faithful service to Langston University while serving as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. We are most appreciative of his outstanding performance as a member of the Langston University family, and of the exceptional partnerships created between Langston University and the Town of Langston City under Dr. Hinds’ mayorship.
Held in the greatest affection and respect, his memory will live in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Dr. Hinds.”
Dr. Hinds funeral will be on Friday, at 11 a.m., inside the Langston University auditorium.
