OKLAHOMA CITY – The Langston Public Works Authority (Authority) in Logan County received approval for a $136,505 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant Tuesday, January 19 through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s water infrastructure.
The Authority operates a water treatment plant that was constructed in 1992 and serves approximately 1,500 customers. The Authority is proposing the replacement of the water plant’s existing filter media and rehabilitation of the plant’s reactor clarifiers. The project will help improve water quality and treatment efficiency for the community.
Joe Freeman, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the grant will save the Authority’s customers $245,709 in principal and interest charges, by not having to borrow the project funds. Since 1983 the Water Resources Board has approved over $3.3 billion in loans and grants for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements throughout Oklahoma.
