A massive grass fire broke out north of Crescent on Sunday afternoon, burning 130 acres and destroying a barn.
Fire crews from Mulhall-Orlando, Crescent, and Marshall quickly responded to the blaze after it was detected by the National Weather Service’s infrared radar.
The fire crews remained on the scene after 7 p.m.
Reports showed that the smoke could be seen from Yukon and El Reno.
The Logan County Emergency Management Office was notified of the hot spot at 2:12 p.m., and fire departments were dispatched at 2:14 p.m. The fire, which occurred near County Road 66 and Western Avenue, was located in a heavily wooded area along Skeleton Creek, complicating firefighting efforts.
In addition to the barn loss, Logan County Emergency Manager Steven Haga provided critical drone support to assist with overwatch and firefighting coordination. Fire crews worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent further damage.
There have been no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
