Guthrie is welcoming 36 of the most interesting folks in Oklahoma to town for the 2nd Session of Leadership Arts 2015 set for March 24-26.Three Leadership Arts graduates from Guthrie, along with The Arts in Guthrie, will be hosting the group. Van French, Shirley Clifford and Lucy Swanson are working with OAC to make sure that this class has a wonderful experience in Guthrie and that they make plans to come back.
The Oklahoma Arts Council’s Leadership Arts program equips approximately 30 participants from throughout the state each year to become leaders and advocates for the arts in their communities. During four two-day sessions, selected participants learn about the arts’ role in community and economic development, education, and quality of life. These individuals come from diverse backgrounds such as; manufacturing, corporate, city government, Chamber/Mainstreet, arts, artists, law, retail, economic development, and more to learn how to invest in the arts culture of their communities.
During their stay in Guthrie, activities that will enhance their session and let Guthrie shine. A concerted effort to expose the group to as much of what downtown Guthrie has to offer as possible. They have reserved nearly all of the B & B spaces in the downtown area, and will be taken on at least two tours of cultural and historic spots, in addition to a Ghost Tour. They will, no doubt, be taking in some shopping while here, and will be dining at local restaurants.
In an effort to welcome these folks in true Guthrie Style the planners are asking that businesses contribute to a “Goodie Bag” for each of the 36 participants this session.
“We want them to get a true taste of Guthrie Hospitality and take it back to their own towns to share,” Swanson said.
If you would like to contribute to the bags, contact Lucy Swanson and will pick up what you have by Tuesday, March 24.
