Lightning strikes house, homeowner shocked

A Guthrie residence was struck by lightning on Tuesday morning. The bolt caused one person to be shocked inside the home.

Storms rolled through Tuesday morning when lightning hit a home in the 400 block of Quail Dr. just after 10 a.m.

The person was inside the house working on the computer when they were shocked. Luckily, they were uninjured and refused treatment at the scene.

As Guthrie firefighters arrived on the scene, light smoke could be seen coming from the roof in front of the residence.

Firefighters, who were working in the heavy rain, quickly gained access to the attic where smoke and flames could be seen and extinguished the flames.

Minor damage was reported to the roof deck and shingles.

A nearby motorist told Guthrie News Page the sound of the thunder was one of the loudest bangs they had ever heard.

“It was so loud, it about stopped my heart,” the motorist said.
