Lion Annie Chadd, a member of the student selection committee noted, “We are so fortunate that the Lions Club has reached out to honor a number of Guthrie High School seniors throughout the year.  It is a challenge to make these selections since we have so many deserving students.  It is certainly a special recognition for special student leaders!”

Zoe, daughter of Michel Hamby, in addition to being an academic achiever, is on student council, sings in the school choir and is intently involved in a student mentorship program called “Link Crew”.  She is planning on attending Oklahoma State University with career aspirations as an elementary teacher.

Jamie, daughter of Gary and Lori Hurren, is a member of the band (baritone player and Drum Major) and is involved with the “Pied Pipers”, a children’s’ theatrical group.  She intends on enrolling at the University of Oklahoma in the pre-med program.

Lions Club President, Cheryl Tarter, reflected “The Lions Club is interested in spotlighting these outstanding young women and men, these future leaders of our communities.  We are pleased and proud to do that with college scholarships and special recognitions throughout the year.  It is our club’s way of “paying it forward” and making an investment in the future”.
