Local Certified Healthy Oklahoma Annual Award Winners Announced

The Logan County Health Department announced today that the School Districts of Crescent and Coyle, the City of Guthrie, the local Mercy Hospital and OSU Extension Office have been selected as winners of one of the five Certified Healthy Oklahoma award programs.

HealthyThe Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH), the Oklahoma Academy, the State Chamber of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma Turning Point Council recently announced the annual award winners for the state Certified Healthy Oklahoma programs. This year, 979 applications were submitted from groups throughout the state, and 755 award winners received the “Certified Healthy” status.

The five award programs are: Certified Healthy Businesses, Certified Healthy Restaurants, Certified Healthy Schools, Certified Healthy Campuses, and Certified Healthy Communities. There are three award levels for the Certified Healthy Oklahoma programs: Basic, Merit and Excellence.

Interested organizations can prepare now to become certified next year. Online applications will be available on Aug. 1, 2013. Criteria for certification can be found on the Oklahoma Turning Point Council website at www.okturningpoint.org.
