Local churches offering Palm Sunday Procession

Bookmark and Share

Five Guthrie churches will join in an ecumenical Palm Sunday Procession on Sunday, April 1.

All are welcome to participate with St. Mary’s Catholic Church, First Christian Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, First United Methodist Church and First United Presbyterian Church.

The congregations will gather at the home of Trinity Episcopal Church’s rector, Father John Borrego, at 422 E. Noble Avenue at 10:15 AM for the Blessing of the Palms.

Guthrie’s Equine Therapy Center will provide a pony. The congregations will then be led to their respective churches by bagpiper Mikeal Murray.

Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in all four canonical Gospels
