Logan County Jail battling COVID cases

The Logan County Jail has been able to avoid an outbreak of COVID cases since March, but now is dealing with nearly two dozen current cases.

Sheriff Damon Devereaux said there are 22 positive cases in the jail as of Thursday afternoon with all being reported as asymptomatic.

Those positive with the virus have been quarantined into one pod and are being monitored and assessed each hour.

“Safety and security still remains our number one priority,” Devereaux said.

Jail officials continue to do their best to reduce the spread of the virus by testing inmates and providing protective gear and cleaning supplies to employees and inmates.

A total of 147 people are currently booked in the jail.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health latest data shows 315 confirmed active cases throughout Logan County.
