“Amanda,” Cpl. Jessica Lasley and Logan County Sheriff Jim Bauman celebrate the first inmate to earn a GED through the county’s new program.

Amanda was released from the detention center Tuesday morning carrying her certificate from the State Department of Education.

“Amanda is as proud of herself as we are of her, and we are hopeful that this will help her to better herself and reduce the likelihood she will return to our facility,” Bauman said.

He said he is “excited to see our hard work paying off, this is a huge step for Amanda and for the citizens of Logan County.”
