Major water line breaks causing havoc, again; low water pressure likely

Workers from the City of Guthrie help repair a main water line along S. Division St.

The construction of a new main water line installation on S. Division St. from the Water Treatment Plant to Harrison Ave. continues to come with multiple water line breaks.

City crews, along with the outside contractor, continue to work around the clock to repair two major water line breaks in the distribution system.

The treatment plant continues to be operational but will require “extensive emergency” repairs.

The repairs are anticipated to be performed this week as parts become available.

“During these repairs, water customers could experience low water pressure,” Guthrie Public Works Director Tenny Maker said. “Some customers may experience interruptions in water supply as these water line repairs are made.”

Maker emphasized there will not be an impact on water quality.

He added that water conservation throughout the week would be “extremely” helpful.

The plant repairs should be made between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. and is when reducing water consumption will be critical.
