Man resists officer; suspect spits out razor blade

A man is in custody after he resisted a Guthrie police officer on Wednesday morning. Once in custody, officers needed several minutes to get a razor blade out of the suspect’s mouth.

Guthrie police were dispatched to the intersection of Elm and Harrison just before noon for a man running and yelling out “everybody needs to go to jail.”

A nearby neighbor tells Guthrie News Page he saw a man running and screaming. The neighbor says the police officer approached the suspect asking for his hands, repeatedly. The suspect resisted and the officer was forced to take the suspect to the ground.

“He definitely resisted,” the neighbor said.

The officer requested back up to help gain control of the suspect. A nearby officer responded and the suspect was quickly taken into custody.

Guthrie EMS responded to the scene for an evaluation of the suspect and as a paramedic began to ask questions, the suspect opened his mouth revealing a razor blade. Despite several commands from officers, the suspect refused to release the blade.

After several minutes, paramedics were prepared to remove the blade with an instrument. Once the suspect saw the tool, he immediately spit the blade out. Afterwards, he was taken to Mercy Hospital for further evaluation.

Robert L. Fullbright, 37, was arrested and charged with assault and battery, obstructing an officer, resisting arrest, possession of a drug in area of school.

The responding officer did not report any injuries at the scene.
