Update: Escapee apprehended; back in custody

Updated at 12:10 p.m. – Officials have confirmed Robert Snelson is again in custody after he escaped the Lincoln County Jail on Thursday morning.

Original Story: Man with Logan County connections escapes Lincoln County Jail

A man with Logan County ties escaped the Lincoln County jail on Thursday morning. Now, law enforcement agencies are on the search while two school districts have been placed on lockdown.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Robert Snelson escaped from custody at the Lincoln County Jail at approximately 8:30 a.m. He was last seen in the area of 8th and Blaine behind the Presbyterian Church.

Snelson is wearing a dark grey, blue tee shirt with white and yellow lettering, blue jeans and is  barefoot. He is approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with dark sandy blonde hair that is close cut.

Wellston and Chandler schools have been placed on lockdown.

According to his Facebook profile and radio reports, Snelson lives in Meridian, once lived in Guthrie and attended Coyle Public Schools.

Snelson was convicted in Logan County back in June 2015 for domestic abuse and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to one year in the county jail. It is unknown to Guthrie News Page at this time what Snelson was in custody for in Lincoln County.

Lincoln County officials say, “if you see the suspect do not attempt to engage, please call 911. If you live in the area of his escape please stay inside and lock your doors.”
