Thank You Guthrie!
As I watched the results of the sales tax proposition being posted precinct by precinct, I was overcome by a sense of pride and thankfulness. I believe the results reflect: a desire to be a part of making our community better for us and for our children; an understanding that “Quality of Life” projects contribute directly and indirectly to making a prideful community where economic development stimulates a dynamic future; and a trust in city leadership that the return on this investment will continually contribute to Guthrie’s success!!
Our community leadership team is deeply and passionately dedicated to creating a community environment that respects and builds on our rich history, our traditions and our “post card” Victorian image while generating a dynamic energy and vision for the future. The passage of this sales tax provides the financial engine to move all of us toward that vision. It provides a wonderful lift off to the next phase of our journey — the implementation of those projects that are embedded in the sales tax proposal and the creation of new opportunities to further enhance our community.
The last two votes by the citizens of Guthrie; the school bond issue and this city sales tax proposal provide a focus for the future and highlight our new reality —- Guthrie is on the move!!!
