Mercy leader recognized nationally as a ‘CEO to Know’

Administrator of Mercy Hospital Logan County

Josh Tucker, administrator of Mercy Hospital Logan County, recently made the list as one of the “60 Critical Access Hospital CEOs to Know” in 2017 by Becker’s Healthcare.

The Becker’s list recognizes chief executive officers, presidents and administrators of critical access hospitals who lead organizations regularly recognized for quality and safety. The leaders are also key members of the community and are dedicated to improving access to care.

Critical access hospitals, like Mercy Hospital Logan County, are designed to provide vital — sometimes life-saving — health care services in rural communities.

Tucker has served as administrator of Mercy Hospital Logan County in Guthrie since December 2011. Prior to this role, he was executive director of finance for all of Mercy’s rural hospitals in Oklahoma. He has also served as chief financial officer for Mercy Hospital El Reno.

“Being chosen as one of the 60 ‘CEOs to Know’ among critical access hospitals is a great honor and really reflects the hard work of all the co-workers at Mercy Hospital Logan County who are dedicated to providing compassionate care and exceptional service to patients every day,” said Tucker.

Brian Denton, administrator of Mercy Hospital Kingfisher, also made the list.

Earlier this year, the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) ranked Mercy Hospital Logan County as a top 20 critical access hospital for quality care in the United States. Mercy Hospital Logan County is one of only three rural facilities in the state to receive the honor. Mercy Hospital Kingfisher also made the top 20, which includes critical access hospitals with fewer than 25 beds.

To earn the distinction as a top 20 critical access hospital, both Mercy hospitals consistently outperformed more than 1,300 other critical access hospitals nationwide by providing better care for patients hospitalized with illnesses such as heart failure and pneumonia.

Based on the rankings from NRHA, the hospital was also recognized this year by Becker’s Healthcare on its “62 Critical Access Hospitals to Know” list.
