Meridian Technology Center Automotive Technology Program receives national accreditation

STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The Automotive Technology program at Meridian Technology Center has received re-accreditation by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Meridian Technology CenterTo achieve this coveted recognition, the school’s automotive training program underwent rigorous evaluation by NATEF. Nationally accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities and equipment were used.

Upon completion of the evaluation, NATEF recommended that Meridian Technology Center be accredited by ASE, a national non-profit organization which tests and certifies repair technicians, in addition to accrediting automotive training programs.

“This is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,” said Donald Seyfer, former NATEF Chair. “Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that Meridian’s graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by Meridian Technology Center, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will join the work force.”

DeAnna Little, Director of Instruction of Trade and Industry programs added, “During the past few months, we have worked closely with NATEF to make certain that our program would meet strict industry standards, and now we are delighted to receive official notice of our re-accreditation.”

The Automotive Technology program is lead by instructors Shelly Smith and David Shields. Combined the two teachers have 50 years of experience.  Shields is a NATEF-certified Evaluation Team Leader and has had the opportunity to visit automotive technology programs across the state to assist in the accreditation of other programs.
