Have you ever wanted to be in a movie? This weekend, the people in and around Guthrie have their chance as the feature-length docu-drama AMERICA films iconic scenes from our country’s history.
The film is looking for non-speaking extras on Saturday and/or Sunday in Guthrie, OK. All roles will be paid $50 each.
Produced by Gerald R. Molen (SHINDLER’S LIST) and Gray Frederickson (THE GODFATHER I & II) and directed by John Sullivan, the film explores what the world would be like if America had never existed. Key points in American history will be examined to determine how those events not only impacted the United States, but also how they impacted the world.
Saturday, January 25, the film needs a number of African American adults, over 50 total, as scenes are depicted with actors portraying Abraham Lincoln and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.
Sunday, January 26, the film is re-enacting the famous Lincoln-Douglas debates, and needs dozens of adult men and women of any ethnicity.
Those working Saturday can also appear Sunday, or they can just appear for one day.
Call times are expected to be around 6:30 or 7:00 am and filming should last most of the day.
Period wardrobe will be provided, but Civil War-era re-enactors are also encouraged to bring their own materials.
Local Casting Director Chris Freihofer, who has cast such Oklahoma-made films like AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, RUDDERLESS, YOU CAN’T WIN, TO THE WONDER, THE KILLER INSIDE ME and many, many more, said this weekend will be a fun opportunity for everyone involved.
“We’ve been filming for well over a week now and actors and extras are just having a blast. The footage looks fantastic and everyone is having fun doing it.”
The film is expected to have a nationwide release.
