Multiple accidents in Logan County happen within minutes; one fatality, two air-lifted

Emergency crews responded to three separate accidents on Thursday evening within a span of 60 minutes. In total, one person was killed, two were taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter and three others transported by ambulance.

Crews were first dispatched to Highway 33 and Henney Road near Langston just before 7 p.m. A witness says a vehicle ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle.

Details of the wreck have not been revealed, but Guthrie News Page has confirmed one person was pronounced dead at the scene, another person airlifted to an Oklahoma City hospital and two others transported to Mercy Logan County by the Guthrie Fire Department.

The second wreck was within moments of the first accident on I-35 near Camp Road.

Officials say a vehicle was rear-ended. One person was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital by EMSA with an arm injury. Two others were treated and release at the scene, including a three-year-old.

The third accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred just before 8:30 p.m. in the northbound lane at mile marker 149 (Charter Oak).

A witness tells Guthrie News Page that a male’s motorcycle had a blow out and was walking on the highway when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

Several witnesses stopped to help the victim until ambulances could arrive. He was medi-flighted from the scene to an OKC hospital with leg and head trauma.

  1. They were certainly bad accidents.. I drove past both of them, just minutes after they happened. Don’t see how anyone survived the car on I 35 being rear ended by the Ford F350 super duty as the front tires of the truck were where the rear doors of the car ought to be. Folks, slow down and watch ahead and behind… Leave the cell phones and messages for later, and live!

  2. Rickey was my big brother, but as of today Jan25th we have never been formally informed of his passing. Sad that we found out through a stranger who happened to hear of the accid. That was on Nov.27th. We were trying to locate him for Thanksgiving dinner. Who job was it to inform family? What happened that day .
